Cornerstone Church exists to proclaim the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ by being the church. We exist to see our community saved, set free and full of God. We are committed to building a church that typifies the new testament church found in the book of Acts.

We value the discovery, cultivation and implementation of God’s plan for the individual as well as his mission for our church community. God has a purpose for YOU! Part of our purpose is to help you discover your purpose. We are also intentional with meeting needs in Jesus’ name in Owosso and the surrounding area. (Jeremiah 29:11).

Us

We value and understand our need for each other in this life. God didn’t design us to live life alone; everyone desires to know others and to be fully known, without the fear of rejection. We are more than just people who gather once a week at the same time and address, we are a family who cares for each others needs, accepts people for who they are, and welcomes everyone. (Acts 2:42-47).

Him

We value intimacy with God – it’s our hope to experience an authentic relationship with Him – seeking Him through the study of His Word, speaking & listening to Him in prayer, and worshiping Him in spirit and truth. We desire to love God passionately, with our emotions as well as our intellect. (Mark 12:30).

Creation

All things were originally created by God for His purposes and pleasure. Man was created in the image and after the likeness of God but rebelled, bringing sin (total depravity) into the world and its condemnation upon the whole human race. We believe that every child of Adam is born with a nature that is essentially and unchangeably evil apart from divine grace. (Gen 1-2; Ps 19:1; John 1:1-3; Rev 4:11)

The Believer’s Relationship to God

Upon placing one’s faith and trust in Jesus Christ, a person becomes a new spiritual creation, becomes acceptable to God not by any works of his own but through Christ’s gift of righteousness, struggles in this life with his old sin nature, relies upon God’s grace in demonstrating faith through works of ministry and service, and looks forward to a future bodily resurrection. (John 5:24; Acts 13:39; Rom 5:1, 7:15-23, 8:35-39; 1 Cor 3:21-23, 15:42-44; 2 Cor 5:17-21; Eph 1:3, 2:8-9; Phil 3:12; Titus 2:11-14)

Marriage & Family

We believe that marriage is the covenantal union of one man and one woman in permanent sacred fidelity. Though various cultures and customs have evolving definitions of marriage, it is God alone who has ultimate authority to prescribe and describe the marital relationship. We will adhere to and follow the scriptural definition of marriage in the teachings and practices of this church. (Gen 2:24; Matt 19:1-9; Mark 10:1-12)
